Game Day: Hillsdale Faces First Road Test at Tiffin

Hillsdale looks to pick up where it left off last season, with an opening week win against Indy.

Hillsdale College has started its football season at 2-0 with wins over Indianapolis and Walsh. Both victories were on the home turf of Muddy Waters Stadium. The first road game of the year kicks off this afternoon at 3:00 PM in Tiffin (1-1, 0-1 GLIAC).

A year ago Joe Reverman’s 269 yards went a long way to not only solidify the win but earn himself the honor of being named GLIAC Freshman of the Year. The Chargers won that game 38-24, launching a winning streak that has now stands at six games.

Containing mobile quarterback Antonio Pipkin will be a major chore for a defense that has played well despite having to replace some key parts like CB Joe Duff and LB Dan Shanley. Getting off of the field on 3rd down has been a key in the first two weeks’ win. Doing that gives the offense a chance to control the clock with its patented grinding strategy. Expect Tiffin to bring a lot of blitzes but after Reverman’s performance a year ago, there will be a lot of keying the running back as well.
