Hillsdale Picked 2nd in 2017 GMAC Football Coaches Poll

As Hillsdale enters its new era as a member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, the Chargers face high expectations to push for a league title.

Hillsdale was picked 2nd by the 8 league coaches, just 4 points behind favorite Ohio Dominican and 1 point ahead of 3rd place Findlay.

2017 Great Midwest Football Preseason Coaches Poll presented by Under Armour

School Points
1.  Ohio Dominican (4 first-place votes) 53
2.  Hillsdale (1 first-place vote) 49
3.  Findlay (2 first-place votes) 48
4.  Alderson Broaddus (1 first-place vote) 38
5.  Walsh 33
6.  Lake Erie 24
7.  Kentucky Wesleyan 23
8.  Malone 21

ODU was 7-4 last season; the Chargers were 5-5 and Findlay was 6-4 as the 3 schools completed their final seasons as members of the GLIAC.

One significant other change that will impact Hillsdale and fellow GMAC members is the move to Region 1 for playoff consideration. Now instead of vying for post-season bids against programs primarily from the Midwest and Mid-South, Region 1 teams hail primarily to the east of Hillsdale in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and throughout New England.

The GMAC opens out-of-conference play on August 31. Hillsdale opens later that weekend on August 2 in Erie, Pa at Mercyhurst. Game time is noon.
