The bright lights and big cameras of ESPN will be on Hillsdale College’s campus on Saturday, Oct. 14 when the Charger football team hosts the University of Findlay.
That day’s G-MAC matchup was selected to be one of the NCAA Division II Showcase games for the 2017 season, and will be streamed on the ESPN3 platform. Fans can watch the Chargers-Oilers game that day via WatchESPN or the ESPN mobile app.
This game will be one of 22 featured NCAA Division II matchups on the NCAA Division II Showcase slate for the 2017 season. Two games per week were selected by the NCAA across the 11-week regular season for inclusion in this broadcast package.
This will be the first time ever a Hillsdale College football game will be viewable on an ESPN platform.
“The collaboration with ESPN provides a continued opportunity to showcase Division II’s balanced student-athlete experience,” said Terri Steeb Gronau, vice president of Division II. “The student-athletes who will be featured in these games have made incredible achievements on and off the field, and we’re excited to share their abilities with a broad national audience on ESPN3.”
The Chargers and Oilers are expected to be two of the teams in contention for this year’s G-MAC championship. Both teams return plenty of starters from last year, and both feature high-powered offenses featuring experienced quarterbacks. Findlay has won each the past three matchups between these teams. In those three meetings, the teams have averaged scoring a combined 78 points per game. From 2006-11, the Chargers went 5-1 against the Oilers, and lead the all-time series with Findlay 15-8-1.
