While his graduating class was walking across the stage and receiving diplomas at Hillsdale College, the Chargers’ all-time leading rusher Joe Glendening was 401 miles away in the Green Bay Packers’ Don Hutson Center trying out for the storied NFL franchise.
“It was an unreal experience and I have no regrets,” Glendening stated. “Unfortunately I wasn’t offered a contract at the end of the weekend.”
“Joe the Show”, as he’s been known since his middle school days in East Grand Rapids, was part of a stacked rookie camp running back group. Included were 2nd round pick Alabama’s Eddie Lacy, 4th round pick Jonathan Franklin from UCLA, and undrafted free agent Angelo Pease from Kansas State.
Glendening says he hasn’t heard from any other teams about possible invites to fall camp but will stay in shape this summer, just in case a team may call. In the meanwhile he will be looking to put his degree in marketing to use.
