Week 10 Football Preview – Hillsdale College Athletics.

The lowdown: The Chargers play the final home game of their 2014 season at 1:00 Saturday against longtime rival Northwood University. Both teams come into this contest with a 3-5 GLIAC record, but coming off of very different outcomes last week.

The Chargers snapped a five-game losing streak in a 24-17 win over Saginaw Valley State University. Hillsdale allowed 185 total yards, its best overall defensive game of the season. Hillsdale’s defense has been particularly stingy of late. Since the fourth quarter of the Grand Valley State game on Oct. 4, the team has played 17 quarters and allowed just five touchdowns to five different opponents. Two of the defense’s standouts, Daniel Pittman and Tim Moinet, will be among the 20 graduating seniors honored in Saturday’s pre-gtame ceremony.

Northwood has lost its last two, 16-14 to the aforementioned SVSU Cardinals on Oct. 25, and 49-21 to 11th-ranked Ohio Dominican last week.

Since a 35-28 shootout in Midland in 2010, Northwood has scored a total of three touchdowns aganst the Hillsdale defense in 12 quarters played between the two teams in 2011, 2012 and 2013 combined. This marks the second year in a row the Timberwolves are the Chargers’ opponents at Hillsdale’s Senior Day.
